Quilled Rainbow Scrollwork Unicorn

I have never quilled a unicorn, but have always wanted to. Last month a woman bought a monogram from me as a gift and the recipient of the monogram loved it so much they immediately contacted me about making this Quilled Rainbow Scrollwork Unicorn for a friend of theirs that was mourning the loss of a loved one. I was really thrilled for the opportunity and had a great time making this bright, colorful, and elegant fantasy creature.

Construction

I really love making quilled scrollwork. I think that at this point it’s kind of become part of my signature style. There is something so appealing about it, and really, you can use it to make just about any subject. One of my most popular 2020 pieces was the Quilled Scrollwork Hearse. So… scrollwork basically makes any subject more beautiful. (IMO)

This piece is a whopping 12″ x 12″. The artwork itself is probably closer to 10.5″ though, as I always like to leave a bit of white space around the edges. All the paper was 3/8″ – my new favorite width. And I used a combination of self-cut cardstock and Quilled Creations paper.

Available on Etsy

The Quilled Rainbow Scrollwork Unicorn shown in this post is sold, but I can always make another. Contact me if you’d like to commission your own. Or, if you want to see what I have in my Etsy shop, click on the links below and take a peek. There is probably something for everyone.
