Every now and then, an artistic project comes along that challenges an artist to their core while also filling them with immense joy. Such was the case with the recent custom Saturn V Double Monogram I created, combining elements of a Saturn V rocket, the letters B & T, and delicate roses. This 11″ x 14″ canvas was a labor of love that incorporated meaningful symbols to represent the couple’s journey and family.
A Multifaceted Monogram
The custom monogram was an artistic adventure like no other. The client approached me with a vision to blend elements of a Saturn V rocket, their initials B & T, and a collection of roses that would represent their five children and commemorate their anniversary. Merging these diverse elements into a cohesive and meaningful design was both challenging and exhilarating.
Saturn V Rocket: To create the Saturn V rocket, I turned to Adobe Illustrator and designed each part meticulously. From the rocket’s engines to the intricate details of its exterior, I ensured the rocket stood as a symbol of the couple’s shared journey, reaching new heights together.
B & T Initials: Incorporating the letters B & T into the design allowed me to personalize the monogram and infuse the artwork with a touch of identity. The intertwining letters served as a reminder of the couple’s strong bond.
Symbolic Roses: Adding five small roses to represent the couple’s children and a prominent central white and silver rose to commemorate their anniversary, the piece became an intimate representation of their growing family and enduring love.
The Creative Process
Creating the custom monogram was an intricate process that required both artistic skill and patience. The initial design phase involved numerous sketches and digital drafts to ensure the perfect composition. Once the blueprint was finalized, I began assembling the Saturn V rocket by cutting each part individually. It was essential to maintain precision to create a realistic and visually striking rocket.
The first version of the monogram included wispy fern-like leaves, but the customer desired a different look. Carefully and diligently, I removed the fern-like elements and replaced them with dark green leaves that resembled rose leaves, beautifully complementing the delicate flowers.

I filmed the first five or six sessions and the videos are accessible at the bottom of this post.
