There’s nothing more fulfilling than creating a piece that is created explicitly for someone you love. I recently had the pleasure of crafting a simple quilled paper daisy on black fiberboard, creating a striking high contrast piece. What made this creation even more special was that it was featured in an article in the esteemed Lincoln County News written by Elizabeth Waltzoni. As luck would have it, my mother-in-law’s love for daisies presented the perfect opportunity to send this artwork as a heartfelt gift after the article’s publication. The joy and she felt seeing her favorite flower on an entire page of the newspaper were immeasurable.
Crafting the Daisy on Black
The simplicity of the white daisy petals against the dramatic black canvas gave the piece a striking and elegant presence. Each strip was carefully shaped and placed to form the delicate petals, infusing the artwork with a sense of grace and charm. Each petal had a single curved strip bisecting it lengthwise.
A Demo Piece with a Purpose
This particular quilled paper art piece was crafted with a purpose in mind – to be photographed while working on it for the article in the Lincoln County News. It was an honor to have my creative process featured in my local newspaper, and it allowed me to share my passion for quilled paper art with a wider audience.
A Thoughtful Gift for My Mother-in-Law
When the article was published, I knew exactly who the finished artwork should go to. My mother-in-law’s obsession with daisies is well-known, and I couldn’t resist surprising her with this gift. I sent her the original quilled paper daisy on black, accompanied by a copy of the newspaper where her flower was showcased across an entire page.
Her Joy and Delight
The reaction from my mother-in-law upon receiving the artwork and the newspaper was priceless. She was thrilled and deeply touched that I had created a piece that held such personal significance for her.
A Gift of Love
The quilled paper daisy on black not only captured the essence of a simple and beautiful flower but also conveyed my love and appreciation for my mother-in-law. It was a heartfelt way to show her how much she means to me and how much I value her passion for daisies.
