Scrollwork Cats of 2023

Scrollwork Cats of 2023

Letter K Monogram: Yellow & Teal

Letter K Monogram: Yellow & Teal

I recently created a Letter K monogram using my signature design elements of scrollwork and loops in a stunning color palette of soft yellows, teal, greens, and a pop of bright blue. K’s have been one of the more common letters requested over the years.

Embracing Signature Design Elements

Scrollwork and loops are my go-to design elements in quilled typography. The intricate curves and delicate loops add a touch of elegance and sophistication to every piece I create. Each scroll and loop are carefully crafted, creating a mesmerizing interplay of shapes and lines that provide a curving contrast to the long straight lines of this letter.

A Unique Color Palette

Colors play a vital role in evoking emotions and setting the tone of artwork. For this particular monogram, the customer chose a color palette of yellows, teals, greens, and a single shade of bright blue. The soft yellows brought warmth and brightness, while the teals and greens gave it depth and dimension. The bright blue served as a focal point, drawing attention to the splashes of that color throughout. The combination of these colors was interestingly reminiscent of a peacock.

A Popular Choice for Personalized Art

The scrollwork and loop monogram has become one of my most popular designs, and it’s not hard to see why. Personalized artwork makes it a meaningful and cherished gift. The beauty of the quilled monogram lies in its ability to capture the uniqueness of each individual via their initial and a specific color palette, while also showcasing my artistry.

Mini Monograms: Letters A & K

Mini Monograms: Letters A & K

As an artist, I am always seeking new challenges to push the boundaries of my quilled paper art. Recently, I worked on a project creating miniature monograms, letters A & K. This was my first attempt at making monograms smaller than my traditional 8″ x 8″ pieces, and to my surprise, the result was nothing short of lovely. The 3.5″ x 3.5″ letter A stood out magnificently, packing just as much visual punch as its larger counterparts. With the customer’s choice of pink and purple hues and the addition of graceful dancing scrollwork, this tiny masterpiece became a true success, prompting me to add it permanently to my Etsy shop.

The Allure of Miniature Art

Miniature art has always intrigued me, and I was eager to explore how the intricacy of quilled paper art would translate into a smaller canvas. As I delicately crafted the letter A monogram, I was amazed by how much detail and beauty I could achieve in such a compact space. The miniature size presented a unique challenge, but it also opened up exciting possibilities for versatility and creativity.

A Surprising Visual Impact

When I completed the 3.5″ x 3.5″ monogram, I was pleasantly surprised by its visual impact. Despite its petite dimensions, the letters became the focal point of the artwork, commanding attention with its grace and elegance. The carefully chosen colors, harmoniously blended with the dancing scrollwork, creating a captivating composition that draws the eye in.

A Permanent Addition to My Etsy Shop

Given the surprising success and positive feedback from the customer, I knew that the miniature monogram had to become a permanent listing in my Etsy shop. It was evident that there was a demand for small quilled art pieces that packed a punch, and I wanted to cater to art enthusiasts who sought something unique and charming.

Conclusion

Creating the miniature letter A monogram was a delightful adventure, full of unexpected beauty and success. The 3.5″ x 3.5″ size challenged me as an artist, but it also revealed the limitless potential of quilled paper art in miniature form. The pink and purple colors, combined with the graceful dancing scrollwork, made the artwork a visual masterpiece. The overwhelming positive response from the customer solidified my decision to add the miniature monogram as a permanent listing in my Etsy shop. I am excited to continue exploring the world of miniature quilled art and bringing joy to art lovers through these charming and captivating pieces. See my Typography Gallery.

Scrollwork Cats of 2021

Scrollwork Cats of 2021

There were a lot of Scrollwork Cats of 2021. It was probably my busiest year since I began making them, in part because of a promotion I was offering to get some demo pieces for my new styles. This was the first year I started making Double and Triple cat pieces. I don’t know which cats are my favorite, but I am partial to the fat rainbow cats; they are just so cheerful and I can make gorgeous scrollwork to fit inside those rounded bellies.

Highlights of the scrollwork cats of 2021 include a tiny seal point Siamese that I turned into an ornament per special request. Angel cats were also a new offering for people who wanted to commemorate a cat who has gone over the rainbow bridge. I’m considering revamping that style but am still deciding on how to go about it.

I was also glad to make a new set of cuddling cats because I’ve always loved the sweet, head-to-head pose. It’s perfect for two cat households.
